Can You Lose Weight Just By Crying?

When was the last time you cried? Probably because your best friend betrayed you or you won a cross word competition. Or maybe you really wanted to loose weight so you cried your eyes out.
The question is can you really lose weight by crying?
Well Yes, maybe, probably, totally Yes!
Cortisol hormone is produced by adrenal gland. It plays a vital role in the body and at the same time could end up becoming terribly out of control. The cortisol hormone is a major dealing with fight or flight response but accumulation of cortisol hormone can cause visceral fat(commonly called belly fat). To be fair, accumulation can make you bring belly fat upon yourself.



How Cortisol Hormone Induces Belly Fat.
Like I said earlier, the cortisol hormone plays a major role in fight or flight responses. When you get pressurised or terrified by something as the case may be, cortisol is activated to provide energy(stored in fats and carbs)  and sets you up for defense or offense mode. During this process, the body fuel is drained off so you feel you want to eat and then you eat and eat (hence belly fat) because during the process, Leptin(hormone of energy expenditure) is affected.


How Crying Affects Weight Loss.
Apart from the job of lubricating the eyes and flushing of dirt, shedding tears can also make you lose weight. How? When you cry, cortisol level is reduced which means fuel drainage is reduced, which means Leptin remains not messed with, which means you dont feel you want to eat and eat, which means you dont get belly fat, which means you shedding tears has made you lose weight indirectly.
