Would we fly if we had wings?

Jeez, wont that be the best experience ever. Try to picture; you in a white jean, and shirt, with a white pair of sneakers gliding using a God-knows how developed wings, flying thousands of metres above in the sky. That would have been fun except, it's kinda not possible, well not yet.

Birds' mechanism.

The biggest flying bird which ever existed but has now gone into extinction is the Argentavis. Their wingspan were ranged from 5.09m to 6.07m with an approximate mass of 70-72 kg. 

The birds forelimbs are the key to flight. They have light 

weight and smooth which reduces weight and drag.

 They also have hollow ones, rigid skeleton and streamlined bodies, all in all support flight. The shape of a bird's wing is important in producing lift. The larger the wings, the greater the lift. 

 Now, why won't we fly?

It turns out most people think we might not be able to fly solely because of our weight but I proved that earlier. Different structures help birds fly and soar high in the sky. Don't be deceived by movies, all those are fictions. A bird can fly because it's wingspan, its wing muscles strength ,are all in accordance with its body size. Can that ever be possible for humans. See the point is, not only the wings matter, other structures(specialized) make birds fly. For example, they have a light weight skeleton with hollow bones which puts a smaller load on its wings. Do you have hollow bones or light weight skeleton? Only if you can live without your bone marrows and other complexities. 

A counterpart is we could fly if we had wingspan of about 6-7 metres long but they would be so damn heavy, we might not even last seconds in air. Birds may be weaker, but their strength to the ratio of their size is greater than that of humans. The point is, we are not too big or extremely large to fly, but we lack the strength to support our weight during flight.

So don't try sneaking up your mom's night gown, sewing it up until 7m long and try jumping from a nearby tree hoping it would sustain your weight. Man! You gonna land like a big fat potato covered in dumbness powder. You can get more by,
