Naturally, many believe sleeping is caused bg stress and fatigue. Partially, this can be true, but what are the right words to describe sleep? According to Wikipedia, Sleep is a naturally recurring state of mind and body, characterized by altered consciousness, relatively inhibited sensory activity, inhibition of practically all voluntary muscles, and reduced interactions with the surroundings.
Scientists report that most healthy adults require a period of sleep of about 7 to 9 hours per night. But even when we sleep that long, what enables us to wake?
Cortisol, which is a stress hormone, is responsible for waking us up whenever we are asleep. This hormone is released in the adrenal gland by the Zona falciculata of the adrenal cortex.
Sometimes when our Cortisol level is low, waking up from sleep can turn out to be quite of a marathon.
Stay tuned.
