The Mist in consideration right now isn't the mist which happens to be in the famous series of the House of Olympus book, but the cloud of very tiny droplets of water in the air or atmosphere , which always appear to be above the ground. This can lead to the ability to visualize the environment, well...burdensome.
Mist always seem to leave a whitish and transparent view in the considered surrounding.

The Mist and Fog happen to mean the same thing, but can be differentiated. Fogs are mainly water droplets in the air above the land, which can hinder visibility. But how can the two be differentiated?
Let's take a quick look at Visibility.
It all depends on the visibility and how far one can see through them.
If the visibility appears to get at one kilometre or within, it is assumed to be a Fog.
And when the visibility is more than a kilometre, it is assumed to be a Mist.
Mist and Fog usually form when warmer air over water suddenly encounters the cooler surface of the ground, and also, during an encounter with air over the ocean.
