What makes the earth oscillate?

Have you ever wondered what set about the rotation of the earth round it's axis, have you also ever wondered why everything is so specialized, have you ever pondered if with time the rotation of the earth will gradually slow down and then ...bamm!!! It's stops. Good thing you asked sciencesnipers.

Angular momentum.

This can be defined as the product of the momentum of a rotating body and it's distance from the axis of rotation. What does this have to do with why the earth oscillates or if it will ever stop doing so you may think but believe me, it's got a whole lot more than it actually means.

The sun's strength

The more the mass of an object, the more attraction (I.e gravitational pull) it has on other objects. A year, that is, one oscillation, I.e one revolution of the earth is equivalent to 365.25 days. The sun’s mass is 1.98892 x 10 to 30th power kilograms, which in our solar system is the most massive object, and is about 340,000 times larger than the earth so the sun's gravitational pull has a reasonable influence on it. The sun's mass is a thousand times larger than that of Jupiter. Compare this to the earth and it's moon. The earth's gravitational force is a lot more stronger than that of the moon so the moon has no choice but be captured by the earth, same occurs between the sun and the earth.
You might wanna ask a question like if the earth is actually attracted by the sun, then why does the earth and all other planets not fall into it and you know, whatever might happen.

Sideways velocity of the earth.

As the solar system began to take shape, a spin was created causing the earth to gain a sideways velocity. Consider a hammer thrower rotating the hammer with a string in a sideways motion, perpendicular to the force exerted by him which is why the hammer Can't possibly leave its motion and crash towards him. This phenomenon is also applied to the earth and the sun, the string attached to the discus is the gravitational pull, the hammer itself is the earth, and the discus thrower is the sun exerting the gravitational force.
So the earth and other planets can't possibly fall into the sun and get roasted up like a Mexican fish stake. Of course that would be fun to watch only that we become the sweetest part of the fish stake. Okay out of all of these, did this question pop up to your mind, 'what initiated this Velocity'. Here's a hint, consider Newton's 1st law of motion. But you can always know more by,
Staying tuned to sciencesnipers...
