What happens when the sun dies?

Okay, don't freak out. Actually, the sun still has about 7-8billion years before it goes kaboom. Stars are born, they live and they die and good for humans, possibly, the sun is a star. You can only start buying a death insurance if you are certain you are gonna live up to 6billion years and above.

What causes a star's death ?

This phenomenon is known as the super nova. It happens to all stars. Stars exist as enormous compilation of gasses at first, mostly helium and hydrogen. These gases have mass so a compilation of them in one place causes it to collapse upon itself. With time, it creates pressure which heats up the gas to become extremely hot that the atom loses its electron and the gas becomes ionized (plasma state). Each protons of hydrogen fuses with the other to become helium. This goes on for billions of years until eventually, all the hydrogen in the sun's core is used up to fuse to become helium. Then, the helium core in the sun starts to collapse upon itself, releasing energy which heats up due to increased pressure. The release of energy makes the sun brighter and gradually transforms into a red giant. The whole process of turning into a red giant takes about 5 million years.

So what happens?

The outer region of the sun expands, becomes dense and gravely hot. It might expand as far as  mercury and Venus. Earth might still be in danger even if it doesn't expand to it, because the high temperature will vaporize it and along with mercury ,Venus and probably mars .  In due time, the sun begins to pulse as a result of being unstable until only a much more cooler core is left(white dwarf)
Too bad for earth, in a billion years time, it would disappear hazardously like a burned watermelon.
Fore more, stay tuned...
