Time Travel, Few things you should know
Your ever thought of time Travelling? Pointedly into the future to see what's gonna happen, or back to the past to change history or feel a couple of things twice?
Well these are things every human being has dreamed of, practically. But I would assume 60%of these dreamers are young humans. So I would describe time Travel as a process or situation whereby time itself is altered, allowing for the existence of anything that contains mass through timelines known as the past and future.
In other words, time Travel involves the moving through time of mass contained particles to either the future or the past. We can't include the "present", cause traveling to the past from the present, would still require you traveling to the future(the present from which you left) and not the present. Most people on Earth, would resolutely say time Travelling can be possible with the aid of a Super Time Machine(STM), just as time Travel movies often feature. Let's dwell on this first. But to achieve this, we need to look at time as physicists do; at the Forth Dimension.
Imagine we are doing a bit of normal everyday car drive. Drive in a straight line and you are traveling in one dimension. Turn left or right and you add the second dimension. You then drive up or down a twisted mountain road with heights, and that's traveling in all three dimensions. But how do we find a path through the forth dimension? How do we travel through time?
Now here's the part the Super Time Machine comes in.
The STM creates a path through the fourth dimension, a tunnel through time itself. Let's call this tunnel a Wormhole. Scientists confess that Wormholes are all around us, only they are too small to see. Wormholes are quite tiny. They are very tiny - occurring in hooks and crannies in space and time, as a science blogger once described. You might find it a pretty confusing concept, but stay with me.
A wormhole is a theoretical tunnel or shortcut, predicted by Einstein's theory of relativity, that links two places in spacetime.
In other words, a wormhole is a possible connection between regions of space-time that are far apart. Wormholes remain only hypothetical, as obviously no one one has ever seen them, but have been used in movies as conducts for time Travel, like in the popular DC comic series - The Flash - where the main character, Barry Allen, travels back in time through a wormhole called the Speed force, to stop his mother from getting killed.
Unfortunately, this real-life tunnels are just a billion trillion-trillionth too small for a human to pass through, but here's where the notion of wormhole time machine is leading. Some scientists think it may be possible to capture a wormhole and enlarge it many trillions of times to make it large enough for a human to pass through. Given enough power, energy, and technology, these Super Time Machines that will be created equally with the same technologies, might help in the creation of large wormholes, thereby allowing the existence and process of time Travelling a reality.
Scientists in general, believe that another possible way of time Travelling involves moving almost faster or at the speed of Light
Speaking of light, what is light? Well, light is a transverse electromagnetic radiation within a certain portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Light is made up of photons, which have no mass. So this is that light itself, has no mass.
This brings us to how fast does light move in a vacuum. Scientists have studied light and have come to a conclusion that light as an electromagnetic radiation, moves at 3 X 10^8 Metre per second I.e 300,000,000ms¯¹.
That should be all you need to know on light for now. For more on light, you can click HERE. now we move to the famous and marvelously structured theory of relativity. Theory of relativity was introduced by physicist Albert Einstein in the year 1915, illustrating and suggesting that suitable geometries of space-time or specific type of motion in space might allow time Travel into the past or future if these geometries or motions were possible. According to general relativity, time Travel is theoretically possible in certain general relativity space-time geometries that permit traveling faster than the speed of light(300,000,000ms¯¹), such as cosmic strings and transversable wormholes. Einstein's theory of relativity suggests that when you travel at speeds approaching the speed of light, time slows down for you relative to the outside world. Traveling at the speed of light away from Earth would slow down time for the traveler, while those who are back on Earth would experience time of the normal rate.
Theoretical physicist and string theorist Brian Greene of Columbia University said, "You can build a spaceship, go out into space and travel near the speed of light, turn around, and come back".
Imagine you go out for six months and you turn around and come back for six months. While you are traveling at the speed of light, time stays slow relative to the people who are standing still. When you step out of your ship, you are one year older, but Earth has gone through many years. It could have gone through ten thousand years or even a million years, depending on how close to the speed of light you traveled. Stay tuned for more...
